Gentamicin Eye/Ear Drops 0.3%
Each ml. contains 3 mg of Gentamicin (as sulphate BP)
Gentamicin Sulphate is a water - soluble antibiotic of the
aminoglycoside group generally
considered active against a wide variety of pathogenic grampositive
and gramnegative bacteria.
The grampositive bacteria against which Gentamicin Sulphate is
considered active , include
coagulase positive and congulase negative staphylococci , including
certain strains that
are resistant to penicillin ; Group Abeta hemolytic and
nonhemolytic streptococci ; and
The gramnegative bacteria against which Gentamicin Sulphate is
considered active include
certain strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa , indolepositive and
species, Eacherichia coil , Kelbsiella/ Enterobacter Species ,
Haemophilus influenzae and
Haemophilus aegyptius ( Koch Weeks bacillus) , Aerobacter aerogenes
Moraxefla lacunata (diplobacillus of Morax Axenfeid) , Neisseria
species , including Neisseria
gonorrhoease and Serratla marcescents.
For the topical treatment of infections of the extemal eye and ear
caused by susceptible
bacteria. Such infection include conjunctivitis , Keratitis and
keratoconjunctivitis , comeal
ulcers , blepharaitis and blepharonoconjunctivitis , actute
melbomiantis , and dacryocustitis.
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to drug.
NOT FOR INJECTION . Gentamicin should never be injected

not touch the

irritation perists or
increases discontinue use and consult physician.
Prolonged use of topical antibiotics may give rise to overgrowth of
organisms , such as fungl. Should this occur , or if irritation or
any component of the drug develops , discontinue use of the
institute appropriate therapy.
Trasient irritation has been repported with the use of Gentamicin
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Transient one or two drops into the affected eye/ear every four
hours. In several
infections , dosage may be increased to as much as two drops once
